The centre of gravity is a point.  Therefore it can be describe as high, low,
fore, aft, port, or starboard.  But not as long, or narrow.

See above.

Aircraft Range.

This sis my first time reading in this forum. It is very interesting. My
question is about Attack aircraft and their range. During my time in the
service (Navy).
aircraft operations for A4s and F4s required most of the time the
addition of
external wing tanks (drop tanks). I never flew but the aircraft didnt
seem to be gone for over a couple hours at most. What is a good range for
a attack
aircraft. What is the effect of carring external tanks. Would a good
attack
aircraft be designed to fly far enough without having to carry external
tanks.
I see that the F18 seems to have "permanently mounted " wing tanks.
Is this poor design or just a change in requirements toget more range. I
was always amazed at the cost of the F4s wing tanks. I believe they were
$10000 a piece and on many missions they were jettisoned when empty.
I realize that during war costs are secondary, but what would be a good
range for a attack aircraft. I believe that the A6 had about the longest
range for a aircraft on a ship when I was in the Navy. Thanks for any
info. I have read many books but this subject seems not to be reported on.
 Thank you.

F22 Questions

How "Stealthy" is the F22 in comparison to B2 and F117 or even a normal F18?
(The reason I’m asking is because it doesnt look particularly stealthy)

The picture I saw it was carrying 2 AIM9 and 2 AMRAAM. Is this all it can carry?
Can underwing pylons be added?

USNavy fighters on Leeuwarden, NL.

This week (no.11) and next week there’s an excercise at Leeuwarden airbase,
the Netherlands on the training of F16 pilots. Participating are fighting
falcons from Holland, Belgium, Norway and Danmark. The aircraft are also
DACT’ing with some cool fighters:

2 x F14 VFA 32 Swordsmen
2 x F18 VFA 105
2 x F18 VFA 137 (all coded ‘AC’)
3 x F4F JG 72 (Hopsten, Germany)

Next week some MIG29′s are to be expected (german, that is).
The aircraft fly 2 or 3 missions a day, with some 24 F16′s in total.

Eurofighter

The first two prototypes of the Eurofighter (EFA) did their first flights in
1994, one in the UK, one in Germany. AFAIK, the program is going on at a
slower pace than everybody expected, but it is going on.
